Amy Stidham

Amy Stidham, lead paralegal, joined Maddox and Gerock in 2017, bringing with her more than 30 years of legal experience.  She began her career as a legal assistant in 1986 and was encouraged by her employer to obtain her paralegal certificate, which she did in 1991 at the National Institute for Paralegal Training, one year after obtaining her AA in General Studies from Northern Virginia Community College.  In 2014, she passed the high level Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (“PACE”), demonstrating that she possesses a comprehensive education and years of practical experience.

Amy’s first job was with a small firm with a general practice.  It was then that she developed a passion for family law, and that is where the majority of her career has been focused.  Her compassionate and empathic nature make her perfect for clients who are going through a difficult divorce or custody dispute.  She is a consummate professional.

Amy is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association (Paralegal Section and Family Law Section), the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (Paralegal Affiliate), and Paralegal Association of Northern Virginia. Amy is also a Virginia Registered Paralegal (VARP), a volunteer paralegal credentialing system in Virginia.

In 2017, Amy was recognized as an Unsung Legal Hero by Virginia Lawyers Weekly and her peers, one of 34 legal professionals nominated and recognized across the Commonwealth in the inaugural year of this award.

When she is not helping clients and attorneys maneuver through the legal minefields of family law, she enjoys travel, especially to the beach, Virginia wines, and spending time with family and friends.
